A Canadian city at night seen from a high vantage point: low stone and brick rooftops in the foreground, a wide river crossed by a lit bridge, and a distant skyline under an empty black sky, with warm orange street lighting threading between the blocks.

Software development in Canada

Softwise builds SaaS platforms, mobile applications, ERP integrations, and AI workflow automation for clients in Canada. The work is done by 20+ in-house developers covering iOS, Android, data, and AI, with no subcontracting, delivered remotely from the head office in Tunis in English or French. Canada is one of the markets behind Softwise's 100+ delivered clients, alongside Tunisia, France, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates.

What we build

What we build for Canadian clients

The same catalogue as every other market, delivered by the same in-house team of 20+ developers.

  • SaaS and multi-tenant
  • Bilingual French and English
  • Mobile apps
  • ERP and CRM integration
  • Workflow automation

SaaS platforms and mobile apps

SaaS platforms covering authentication, roles, billing, dashboards, and multi-tenancy, plus native iOS and Android applications built by in-house mobile engineers. Work ships in tested increments, so the product can be steered while it is being built rather than reviewed at the end.

Bilingual products, French and English

French and English delivered together rather than one translated after the other. Softwise delivers in English, French, and Arabic, and a bilingual interface is scoped as part of the build, which is what a product used by Quebec employees needs rather than a locale added at the end.

ERP, CRM, and workflow automation

ERP integrations, custom CRM builds, and Salesforce or HubSpot wired into the systems around them, plus automation and AI added where it moves a number the business already tracks. Data engineers sit on the same team as the application developers.

Local requirements

What Quebec and Canadian law ask of the software

Public requirements that shape the build, and how they are approached. Not certifications, and not compliance claimed on your behalf.

French as a product requirement

The Charter of the French Language governs the language of software used at work in Quebec, which makes French a product requirement rather than a locale setting. The approach is to treat French as a source language held at parity with English through the release, not as a translation pass bolted on at the end. Domain vocabulary is written by people who use it, because in a legal or financial interface the wrong French word is a wrong term rather than a clumsy one.

Personal information, and where it goes

Quebec's Law 25 governs how a private-sector organization handles personal information, including an assessment before that information is communicated outside the province. It regulates the transfer, not the postcode: there is no blanket rule that private-sector records must sit in Canada. Which region the database runs in, what crosses a border, and what a backup replicates are decided with you and written down, so where your data lives is a fact rather than an assumption.

Records a corporation must keep

The Canada Business Corporations Act and its provincial equivalents require a corporation to keep records such as minutes, resolutions, and registers. Software that holds them is holding a legal record rather than a folder of documents, which changes the design: provenance, immutability once approved, and attributable decisions matter more than storage and sharing.

How we work

Working with a Canadian team from Tunis

Working together

Languages, hours, and the plain answer about offices.

Working in English and French

Requirements, reviews, and day-to-day questions run in English or French, with the same in-house engineers who are building the product. A stakeholder group that switches between the two mid-meeting is normal rather than a problem.

  • French
  • Arabic

Working hours

Tunis runs five to six hours ahead of Montreal and Toronto depending on the season, so the Tunis afternoon is the Canadian morning. That is a real shared window every working day rather than a full-day overlap, and calls, reviews, and releases are scheduled inside it.

  • Scheduled inside your hours

Travel and the office

Remote by default, with travel to your location when a project calls for it. One office, in Tunis, and no office in Canada.

FAQ

Questions Canadian clients ask

Answer-first, and a plain no where the honest answer is no. Ask us directly.

Yes. Canada is one of the markets Softwise has delivered in, out of 100+ clients across Tunisia, France, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Canada. Delivery is remote from the head office in Tunis, in English or French, with travel to Canada when a project calls for it.

Yes. Softwise delivers in French, English, and Arabic. For a Quebec product French is scoped as part of the build rather than as a translation task, because the Charter of the French Language governs the language of software used at work in the province, which makes it a product requirement rather than a setting.

Not as a general rule. Quebec's Law 25 regulates the communication of personal information outside the province and requires an assessment before it happens, rather than mandating Canadian hosting outright. Where Canadian hosting is a client or sector requirement, the architecture follows it, and where the data lives is decided with you and documented.

No. Softwise has one office, in Tunis, Tunisia, and no Canadian entity, business number, or local phone number. Delivery is remote, in English or French, with travel to Canada when a project calls for it. Tunis afternoons overlap Canadian mornings, which is when calls and reviews are scheduled.

Tunis is five to six hours ahead of Montreal and Toronto depending on the season, so the overlap is the Canadian morning rather than the whole day. Work is organised around that: a question asked in your morning is answered the same day, and reviews and releases are scheduled inside the shared window.

No. Every engagement is delivered by Softwise's own developers. The 20+ in-house team covers iOS, Android, data, and AI, so the people who scope a project are the people who build it and the people who answer for it after release. Nothing is passed to an outside studio.
